From now until Saturday 30 September at Ilminster Arts Centre see the new group exhibition ‘Take Five’.   This involves five West Country artists and combines them to create a colourful and richly textured display that visitors will savour.  The rewarding combination of media, styles and subject matter features paintings inspired by people, places, landscapes near and far, the everyday and the unfamiliar, along with mixed media textiles that evoke the environmental issues facing our seas, and powerful and poetic 'sculpted books'.  Meet the Artists on Sunday 3 September from 3.30pm to 5.30pm along with a preview of the exhibition.  Refreshments available.

From now until Saturday 30 September there will be a display of work in the Cafe Gallery at the Ilminster Arts Centre of pastels, acrylics and watercolours by some of the artists represented by Creative Coverage, an organisation that represents professional artists and craftspeople.

From now to Friday 6 October from 9.30am to 5.00pm the Jerram Gallery in Sherborne has a new Exhibition of New Work by Guy Taplin.

 

From Saturday 23 September to Sunday 8 October at ACE Arts in Somerton there is an exhibition called 'Objectscapes’ by Heptad: a personal interpretation of chosen objects using a wide variety of methods and media to dispel conventional expectations. 

 

On Saturday 30 September from 10.00am to 4.30pm at St James Church, Preston Road in Yeovil go along to ‘New Beginnings’ – an exhibition of new traditional and non traditional quilts and textiles by Star Quilters Yeovil.  There will be quilts, cushions, bags, pictures, stalls, tombola, teas, cake and conversation in celebration of the reopening of the newly refurbished church and the Quilters new home.  Entrance £2.50.  For more information phone Frances on 07795 146509. 

From Saturday 30 September to Sunday 1 October from 10.00am to 4.00pm in the Town Hall there is 'Art In Ilchester'.  This is an exhibition of invited West Country talent.  Cafe open. Free Entry.  Enquiries: 01935 840970.

From Monday 2 to Saturday 28 October at the Ilminster Arts Centre, Artists303 present a ‘Light’ exhibition.  They will be showing their recent explorations on the theme of light using paint, print, collage, stitch and artists' books. This West Country group was set up in 1965 by artists living and working near the A303. 

From Saturday 14 October to Saturday 11 November at ACE Arts in Somerton - an exhibition called 'Menagerie' by Edwina Bridgeman,  comprising two and three dimensional work exploring found objects and unexpected materials to create a body of work around people and their animals.  Meet the artist on Saturday 14 October from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.  Family workshop available on Saturday 21 October.

On Friday 20 October to Friday 10 November from 9.30am to 5.00pm the Jerram Gallery hosts an Exhibition of New Work by John Maddison.

From Monday 30 October to Saturday 25 November at the Ilminster Arts Centre the Neroche Artists have an exhibition.  They are a diverse group, each artist excelling in their own particular field.  Mediums range from intricate engravings to beautifully executed sculptures along with watercolours, oils, pastels and etchings.
